ANIMAL: Dragonfly

We were sad to come home to find what seemed like a dying dragonfly. We made a shelter around it and then checked on it in the morning to find it had died in the night. At least it was safe and hidden when it died we both said. Amila said she would never forget it.

Did you know that Dragonflies can fly in any direction, including sideways and backward, and can hover in a single spot for a minute or more? Something else that is amazing is the species called the globe skimmer (Pantala flavescens) flies 11,000 miles across an ocean in what's considered the world's longest insect migration! WHAAAAAT?!!

Does anyone else think there are more Dragonflies this year darting about?
