PLACE: Leo Carrillo
Our all time favorite beach in Southern California is Leo Carrillo State Beach.
Leo Carrillo has got it all! Some sand, lots of rocks with tide pools, surfing, rock scrambling and more. They even have a campground! A typical day trip for us is packing a lunch and lots of snacks and drinks. We load the car up with our sun tent (we have had ours for at least 10 years and it is still in good shape and has really helped us stay cool and out of the blazing sun. It is a little annoying to have to set up but so worth it). We make sure to pack sunscreen, towels and any kinds of activities we may want to do - shovels, buckets, books and maybe our kite! We usually stay all day and just chill together, walking the beach from end to end. We all love tide pools and we have seen so many sea creatures from sea anemones, sea stars and sea hares. We have even seen a few octopus!
