PLACE: Side Street Projects

Recently, my kids and I went to a skill share workshop at Side Street Projects in Altadena. Side Street Projects is a mobile, artist-run organization that hosts workshops on site and in the community. The workshop we attended was taught by Ching Ching Cheng, a local artist (and friend!). My kids and I made a plaster sculpture together of our hands entwined by dipping our hands in plaster, removing them after a short time, and waiting overnight for the plaster to harden. We came back the next day to see the sculpture and take it out of its shell. It was such an exciting and hands-on (pun intended!) process.
